The key to successfully using Takedown’s data sharing facility is to designate one iPad as the “official” source (master iPad) and share your season from that iPad out to your satellite scorers. When the event is complete, have them share their season back to you for consolidation. You’d repeat this process for every event for which you had multiple iPads scoring.
The import process is additive — the imported season’s data is added to an existing Season of the same name and start/end dates. Also, your satellite scorers should only score matches and create reports. Satellite scorers should not be changing/adding/deleting data in Schedule, Roster and Opponent Teams. You’d repeat this process for every event for which you had multiple iPads scoring.
For video users, your satellite iPads need to upload to YouTube prior to Sharing Season. Takedown does not include the video files in Share Season due to the large file sizes involved.
Also, after the master has successfully imported and merged the Season from the satellite iPads, that specific Season should be deleted from the satellite iPads.. If you don't do this, then any error in the satellite Season will persist and get exported back to the master. Remember: the master is the "official" merged database. (Note: Takedown doesn't support an "empty" Season list, so if you only have one Season on your satellites, then create a fake Season called "Junk" or something similar. Then you can delete the working Season on your satellites).
All along the way, back up your “official” Takedown database so you’re covered if you ever need to revert to a prior instance of your database. Backing up your data is simply sharing your Season to a safe place, your inbox, Apple’s Notes app, Google Drive, Dropbox….any place where you can safely keep a file.
