What do I need to purchase?
After the free trial expires, purchase the base Scoring subscription. If you want to record video, too, purchase the add-on Video Recording subscription.
How do I purchase subscriptions?
In Takedown Settings, the subscriptions are purchase-able in the Takedown Store.
What is the price?
See the Takedown Store in the app or go to the Takedown Scoring and Stats landing page in the App Store or see the Pricing page on our website.
How is the transaction processed?
All Takedown Store purchases are processed through the App Store by Apple. The transaction is charged to the Apple ID (and payment method) on the iPad where you initiate the purchase. Apple does not share with us the Apple ID that makes the purchase.
Can I transfer the subscription from one Apple ID to another?
Apple does not permit transferring auto-renewing transactions from one Apple ID to another Apple ID.
Is there a free trial?
Yes
Can I use the video feature without scoring a match?
No. If you just want to record video, use the Apple Camera app.
Do I need a video subscription to record video?
Yes unless you're in the free trial period.
Do I need a video subscription to upload videos to the cloud?
No, the video subscription pertains only to recording video.
Do I need a video subscription to score matches?
No, the video subscription pertains only to recording video.
Do I need a video subscription to review video in Takedown?

Is there a tutorial?

How do I access the video recording feature?
In the Scoring view.
How do I enable video recording?
Tap the camera icon in the lower middle of the Scoring view.
When does the video recording start?
Automatically, when the match clock starts at the beginning of Period 1.
When does the video recording end?
Automatically, when you tap Move On to the next match.
When is the video file saved?
When you tap Move On to the next match.
What happens to the video if I tap "Start Over?"
The video is discarded and a new video is created.
Is there a separate video for each match?
Yes
Can I manually stop the video recording?
Yes, but it can not be restarted for the same match.
What resolutions are available?
480P, 720P and 1080P
How do I change the resolution?
A: Tap the resolution label in the video view port.
Can I change the video resolution in between matches?
Yes
Can I change the video resolution in the middle of a match?
No.
What are the storage requirements?
For a full high school dual meet, about 1-2 gigabytes at 480P and 7-9 gigabytes at 1080P. College will be lower by about 10-15%.
What format is the video?
Standard Apple format (MP4 encapsulated H.264). Widely used and compatible with almost any video player.
How is the video file titled?
On the iPad, each video file, representing a single match, is automatically titled with the weight class, wrestler names, opponent team, event name (if present), match outcome and date.
Example:

On the recording iPad, where is the video stored?
A: In the Apple Photos app on the recording iPad.
Can I export the videos to a cloud location?
A: Yes. Export the videos from Apple Photos to any compatible service or device
What happens if I run out of storage space on my iPad?
Delete items -- apps, photos, video -- on your iPad to free up storage. Takedown will prevent video recording if your iPad storage gets too low.
Can I leave Takedown and go to another app during video recording?
No, Apple doesn't allow any app, including Takedown, to record video if it isn't the active (visible) app.
Who owns the video?
You own your video.
Can I copy the video to my computer for creating a highlight clip?
Yes, you can do anything you'd like with your video.
Is it required to record video of every match?
No, record only the matches you want to record. However, once the free trial for scoring matches is over, the free trial for recording video is over, too.
If I don't grant permission for the app to use the camera, what happens?
Takedown can't record video.
If I don't grant permission for the app to use the microphone, what happens?
Takedown-recorded video will not have an audio track.
If I don't grant permission for the app to use the Photos app, what happens?
Takedown-recorded video will not be saved and existing, on-device video will not be playable in Takedown.
Does video recording work on a Mac?
With the internal camera only, external camera not currently supported.

How can I playback video recorded by Takedown?
- For all videos for a specific Event, Schedule>>Event>>Manage Video
- For all videos for a specific wrestler, Roster>>wrestler of interest>>Video Room
- If the match is on Takedown LIVE, tap the play symbol
- Log in to your YouTube account and play video
- If you have the video link, tap or click on the link on any mobile device, desktop or laptop
Is there a tutorial for using the playback feature in Takedown Scoring and Stats?

Can I play back the video from within Takedown?
Yes, as long as the video is available on-device or on YouTube, and was stored in those locations by Takedown. It is strongly recommended that you allow Takedown to manage your Takedown-recorded videos.
Where is the playback function?
In the Event on your Schedule ("Manage Video") and on the wrestler page in your Roster ("Video Room").
How do I know if an event or wrestler has video available?
Look for the 🎥 symbol in your Schedule or Roster.
What controls are available in the video player?
Play, pause, rewind, seek to any point in the video, slow motion, go to any scoring event via ScoreSeek.
What is ScoreSeek?
ScoreSeek allows the viewer to advance or rewind to any scoring event -- takedown, escape, pin, penalty, etc. -- in the match by simply tapping on the scoring event in the scoring transcript.
Do I need to upload videos to YouTube for ScoreSeek to work?
No, ScoreSeek works with on-device and YouTube-stored Takedown-created match video. The experience is the same if you have a robust Internet connection.

What cloud storage platform is integrated in Takedown?

Why YouTube?
YouTube is the leading video platform, by a wide margin, in the world. It is free, secure, mega-scale, reliable, high quality, richly featured, accessible from any device and any location. YouTube is the 2nd most visited website in the world and houses over 1 billion videos.
Are there any limitations on the number of videos I can upload?
Takedown has no limitations. Google imposes a daily upload limitation on YouTube accounts lacking a track record of acceptable behavior. See this support article..
Is sharing video via iCloud supported?
Not at this time.
Is uploading to YouTube required?
No, it's optional. If you want to get the most value out of Takedown, use Takedown to upload your video to YouTube. This will preserve in-app video playback and enable ScoreSeek on the YouTube platform.
Why would I upload videos to YouTube?
For easy sharing with athletes, coaches, parents and other audiences. Also, once the video is uploaded to the cloud, you can free up on-device storage by deleting the local copy. Lastly, once the video is uploaded to YouTube it can be reviewed in Takedown on all of your iPads. If the video is not uploaded to YouTube by Takedown, the video is available only on the iPad that recorded the video.
To what YouTube account is the video uploaded?
Whatever YouTube account you choose. We suggest using a team-branded YouTube account -- for example, centralhighschoolwrestling@gmail.coom -- rather than a personal account. See this support article.
Is the video also uploaded to a LevelChanger YouTube account?
No, only to your YouTube account.
Can I upload video from Takedown to YouTube?
Yes, you can upload videos individually or upload all videos for an Event.
Once the video is uploaded to YouTube, can I delete the local (on-device) copy to free up storage?
Yes. If you want to keep the original video, copy it to some location off of your iPad -- computer or cloud -- prior to deletion.
Can I download my Takedown-created videos from YouTube?
Yes, though you'll probably need to use a third-party app.
Can I play Takedown-created videos from a browser?
Yes, you can play Takedown-created videos from any platform that supports YouTube (which means any platform).
Is ScoreSeek available during browser-based YouTube playback?
Yes. In your browser-based YouTube player, Open Transcripts for ScoreSeek functionality. YouTube transcripts are navigable, just tap or click on a line in the transcript.
How do I inform athletes and other coaches that video is available for an event?
Tap the Sharing symbol in Manage Video or in Video Room
Tip: Add wrestler and coach emails in Roster and Staff Contact Info, respectively, if you want the To: field to be auto-populated with email addresses.
Can I manually upload my Takedown-created videos to YouTube?
Yes. Manually uploaded videos can be attached to any scored match.
Is my Takedown-created and uploaded YouTube video available to the public?
No. By default, Takedown uploads video a YouTube privacy level called "Unlisted" that prevents the general public from finding your video. If you can't find it, you can't play it. YouTube privacy settings are explained here.
Tip: don't change your videos to Private as that will make sharing very difficult. Also, Private YouTube videos can't be played in the Takedown video player.
How do I revoke Takedown’s access to my team’s YouTube account?
In Settings>>Video Upload>>Revoke YouTube Permissions
Can I review video for a specific wrestler?
Yes. Roster>>Wrestler>>Video Room
Can I generate video clips for specific scoring actions such as takedowns?
